Super Grateful..

Huge thanks to everybody who got on board with my Kickstarter effort; I don't know how to say THANK YOU!! enough...

I've had the idea for this project for awhile, there were many moments of doubt about it's viability leading up until now.. Now it's Onward and Forward...

As far as I know, this is a completely unique approach that we'll be taking, and again, THANKS for bringing us to this starting point,

Remembrances: Levon Helm and Pete Fornatale

Dear Bottomless Pit fans,

I'm two weeks into a 3 week road trip. It seems like a real drag at this moment that I wasn't able to comment on and acknowledge in a timely manner the deaths of Pete Fornatale and Levon Helm. Levon's death REALLY hit home for me and my family: About 10 minutes after I heard the news on the radio I got a call from Dean; he was crying, really beside himself. Some of you may have seen Ione's name in the NY Times; I was so proud of her for going to the memorial with some lilacs from our backyard.. I'll do a full tribute to Levon on the show but it won't be for another week or two. OUCH!..

Pete Fornatale was somebody that I had some memorable experiences with and always enjoyed being with. The first time we were on the air together was back in 1986; Tom Teeley and I flew into NY from Boston after a show in really bad weather to be on a late-night broadcast from the UN with Pete. He was a great host, and there was something cool about being in the UN in the dead of night, nobody in the place but us. I remember really enjoying the experience. Pete was a warm person, great at what he did; I'm so sorry that he's gone. There's just way too much of this kind of thing going on lately..

This Week on "The Bottomless Pit" 4/7

This week is another extra-special Bottomless Pit, a salute to the earliest days of WABX in Detroit, one of the first free-form FM Rock stations in the country. For about 3-4 years it was a daily part of my life. They played everything from John Lee Hooker to Igor Stravinsky, and it worked.... Join me for a look back; it'll be a trip worth taking..

Tune in this Saturday, April 7th at 10PM EST!
